Your Body Mass Index is a measure of the proportion of fat in your body against your overall weight. It’s a good indication of your general health and fitness and gives you a target to aim for if you’re managing your weight.
Basically, any reading between 20 – 25 means you’re at your optimum weight for a healthy lifestyle.
A word of warning... athletes like rugby players, with a higher than average muscle mass, often get readings that give them a BMI of 35 or more! For most of us though, it’s a pretty reliable indicator of how we shape up.
